Brief
Set within a classic Georgian townhouse in leafy Wimbledon, this project was all about creating a kitchen that could keep pace with a vibrant family lifestyle while delivering refined, enduring style. The client wanted a space that would feel at home in a period property yet support the demands of modern family life, elegant, welcoming, and undeniably practical. Our role was to design a kitchen that acts as a central hub: a place for cooking, connecting, entertaining, and unwinding, all within a beautifully crafted environment.
Design
Inspired by the Georgian proportions of the home, we approached the design with a strong sense of symmetry and warmth, layering contemporary family-friendly functionality onto a timeless architectural base. At the heart of the room sits a large central island, commanding in scale and softened by the deep, rich paint finish and polished brass accents. This island is the engine room of the kitchen: a preparation zone, breakfast bar, and conversation spot all in one.
To ensure seamless flow into the dining and living spaces, the perimeter cabinetry was carefully planned to feel integrated and balanced, not imposing. Tall shaker-style cabinets span one wall, offering a blend of integrated appliances, generous storage, and functional elegance. Durable quartz worktops were selected for their low-maintenance properties and crisp visual appeal—providing a fresh, contemporary counterpoint to the traditional cabinetry style.
Natural oak flooring runs throughout the space, bringing warmth and continuity across adjoining rooms. Contemporary pendant lights hang low over the island, introducing a touch of modernity and softness above the hardworking surface. A glass backsplash—chosen in a cool neutral tone—adds subtle reflectivity and texture, elevating the overall scheme without overwhelming it.
